Red Radish – The best ‘Restaurant’ on the French Riviera.

Was Chef Lucy that mean? Of course she wasn’t and it is safe to say that the clients absolutely loved the food and as they enthused at every dish, Lucy and I marvelled at how easy it was to load the dishwasher as our wonderful private clients sent back eight courses worth of totally empty plates.  The Provençal villa they had rented was magical; the table spectacular and needled to say ‘Chef Lucy’ and Red Radish had come up trumps once again with the catering. Yet more delighted Red Radish clients with the added bonus (for me) that as part a recently implemented new drive (by me!) to keep our cooking standards at the same gastronomically high levels I had managed to enjoy at least a spoonful (or three) of every delicious course and all in my official capacity as Chef’s assistant and taster.


The drive back along the A8, looking out to Cannes was a joy and before we knew it we were back at Villa Aurita (our French Riviera Bed and Breakfast) sipping a glass of our favourite rosé on the terrace from UK owned winery Chateau Léoube. It had been hardwork but we had enjoyed every minute of it. Boy oh boy do I love my job (and Chef Lucy!)

The Joy of Running a Catering Company in Provence

I absolutely LOVE food and the great thing about running a catering company between London and the French Riviera is that Chef Lucy (as she now likes to be called after watching too much Gordon Ramsey!) constantly gets an excuse to cook with the very best ingredients available, whilst I just hang around the kitchen in my capacity as the official ‘Red Radish Taster’. I was therefore obviously delighted when a client looking for a private villa chef recently Googled ‘French Riviera Catering Company’ and ended up contacting Red Radish about creating them a ‘French Taster Menu’ for a birthday party at their beautiful rental villa in St Paul de Vence.


The thought of eating I mean serving such delicacies as Pan-Fried Fois Gras and hand-dived scallops in their shells set my taste buds tingling to almost Philharmonic proportions.  It was as much as I could do to concentrate whilst typing up Lucy’s delicious taster menu as she constantly and rather meanly reminded me not to get too excited because the catering was for a clients birthday party and not actually for me. That’s right; I could choose the wine, walk around the wonderful Forville Market in Cannes picking the best produce money could buy, but I was not actually going to be allowed to sit down and enjoy any of it! Surely she could not be that mean, could she?

Private Villa Catering Taster Menu

This is just one example of an eight course taster menu that we recently created for a private catering client who had rented a Provenςal holiday villa in Saint Paul de Vence. Our Chefs work in private villas and homes between Monaco and St Tropez and catering like this is nearly always much cheaper than eating the same menu (if you can find it) in any French Riviera restaurant, plus you really can go to town with some wonderful French wines and Champagnes. Our busy French Riviera Catering season has already started and this year is looking to be busier than ever for Red Radish. As well as catering for our usual private villa clients we have some great wedding parties to cater for over the coming months. Our Cannes based chefs will be working on various different events and parties in glamorous French Riviera locations like Cannes, Monaco, Mougins and Saint Tropez. We are looking forward to trying out some great new Provençal recipes on a cross section of projects including corporate events,  cocktail parties, canapés receptions and a few French Riviera style weddings along the way.

In the meantime we are busy getting ready to head off to Hampton Court Palace this coming weekend where we are feeding the crew and artists on a two week project. Stars like Katie Melua, James Morrison, Squeeze and Frankie Valli are just a few of the artists who we can’t to meet, and who will be sampling some great Red Radish food.

This a quick list of tasty Canapés we will be delivering into Cannes on a daily basis during the 2012 Film Festival. As an established Cannes based catering company we can of course supply waiters’ waitresses or hostesses but these canapés are also designed for easy delivery and service by your own crew or staff. We also have various buffet catering options if you are looking for something a little more substantial for your Cannes party, film launch, event or reception and you can see by our testimonials that Red Radish never fails to deliver on quality, service or price.

We usually recommend a minimum of four or five canapés per person per hour but obviously this depends on a multitude of things including the size of the nibble and the hour at which your party begins. We always try to offer a good variation and combination of tastes and would suggest a minimum of five different canapés for the event we will be catering. Prices start at around €1 per canapé depending on quantity.

As well as great food we can also supply and deliver the rental and hire of wine, water and Champagne glasses, plates and cutlery, napkins, table cloths, and larger items such as tables and chairs. Needless to say that we can also deliver the wine and Champagne to fill up the glasses too!

Catering & Delivery to Cannes Film Festival

Cannes Film Festival hits town on May 16th and Red Radish already have four parties to cater for. A couple of large canapés deliveries will mean that Lucy and our chefs will be busy in the kitchen getting everything prepared and ready for these large catering delivery into the Palais du Festival. As well as this we will be renting glasses and catering equipment along with providing some great waiters, waitresses and hostesses for a couple of othere events.


We love Cannes and everything about the Film Festival and although it promises to be very busy we are still able to help with any last minute deliveries of either food or equipment.

Bowl Food Catering and Equipment Hire at Cannes Lions

Bowl foods have for a while been all the rage in London and New York where they make a substantial and stylish alternative to canapés. Everything you need to know about arranging a wedding in France

Arranging a wedding in France can be easy if you find the right wedding planner to help when it comes to arranging your dream wedding.

That is where Red Radish comes in and we can make sure your special day in France will be the happiest day of your lives. Unlike most wedding planners we are actually based in France (although we also work in the UK frequently) and can therefore be sure to be able to answer all your wedding planning questions directly rather than having to calling in a whole bunch of other suppliers, venues and caterers.  As well as being able to help you arrange your wedding we are also a succesful catering company and even have our own great wedding venue nestled in a beautiful village here in the South of France.

There is lots to know and actually legally getting married in France is not so straightforward but we are here to help you overcome every hurdle. : To get married either the bride or groom must have been resident in a in the same village, town or commune in France for a minimum of 40 consecutive days before they can get married. The application for the civil marriage may be made to the Mairie (Town Hall) once this residency has been achieved.

A Televised Red Radish Supper Club filmed for mainstream TV

Finally we have got around to uploading the video of the Red Radish Supper Club shoot for a Television series called Wild Camping which was produced by Mike Fiddler at RoadDog Television Productions. Louise Bird and Karima Mo both looked great on camera whilst the villa made a great film location. A chunk of the organisation for the Cote d’Azur leg of the programme was organised by Red Radish’s Cannes based Wayne Brown who has worked as a fixer on other TV and film productions set in the South of France including a recent viral ad campaign based in St Tropez for Citroen Cars and the launch of the DS5 Star Experience.
