A Cannes Lions Festival Party in the Pool!

I just wanted to say a massive thank you for catering for our party during Lions Festival in Cannes. It was a HUGE success.

Your team were so lovely, the food was amazing – we got tonnes of compliments and most importantly we didn’t lose our villa rental deposit for the first year ever… haha!

So what exactly is the difference between a cook and a chef we hear you asking? The answer quite simply is that we are not actually sure! One thing we do rather sadly know though is that 100% of restaurants in the South of France, particularly Cannes, Monaco and Nice that we visit all definitely have what they call a ‘chef’ and in about 80% of those restaurants we eat and usually end up feeling disappointed by how bad the food was. It is pretty much the same back in the London and the UK. At Red Radish we have both highly trained chefs and experienced cooks and the one thing that we like to think they have all got in common is that they are good, So good in fact that we nearly always  get asked back wherever we go.

‘The books’ describe a Chef as someone who preps and cooks meals in either restaurants or at receptions, villas, parties or events. Their food can often be exclusive to a  region, catering just Provencal for example, and some can be quite specific when plying their trade and deal with individual elements of a meal such as pastries, sauces, soups, salads, vegetables, meat, poultry and fish.

On large scale events, festivals, banquets and weddings, the Head Chef will often be there just to instruct other chefs in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food as well as managing a team of other kitchen staff responsible for making sure things happen effectively and on time. The Red Radish chefs and cooks often spend weeks planning menus, organising kitchen supplies and making sure they have all the equipment they need to make sure an event goes exactly to plan.

Catering Company in Cannes

The next few weeks get very busy for most Cannes based catering companies as first MIPIM and then MIPTV hit the South of France.  MIPIM, which the organisers bill as the leading international real estate fair, used to be known for its excessive throwing of parties and cocktail receptions, and the drinking of copious amounts of champagne has quietened down a lot since the world property crash, although there are always still enough events to keep many a chef busy preparing everything from gala dinners through to canapé and bowl food receptions. The first events and parties start at the end of January and there are some great acts lined up and heading to the French Riviera. Canapés and Bowl Food Catering for Cannes Boat Show

The Cannes Boat Show arrives in Cannes this week amid a flurry of set building and marquee companies doing a great job setting the scene for this annual yachting event. Being one of the few local Cannes based catering companies speaking both English and French, Red Radish are already committed to catering for a number of parties and receptions during the five day long festival attended by most of the big names in yachting including UK based companies Sunseeker and Camper & Nicholsons International.

As well as the fully catered parties where we will be providing everything from waiters and waitresses, equipment hire, a DJ and obviously some great canapés and a buffet, there are also a couple of simple receptions where there will be a quick and efficient delivery of our great canapés along, of course, with the obvious obligatory cases of chilled champagne.
